Granite and Optical Linear System
A compact milling center machine developed specifically for the European dental industry, mostly composed of relatively small laboratories. It is a milling machine with fully automatic tool change, able to create any item (crowns, bridges, models, screw-retained bridges, abutments, connection bars, surgical stents, etc.) in all materials (wax, PMMA, various resins, composite material, pre-sintered zirconia or aluminium oxide, lithium disilicate, titanium (grade 2 and 5), CoCr alloy, etc.).
A sturdy construction in carefully polished natural granite from South Africa, on three axes (X, Y and Z) plus 2 rotary axes to angle the milling disc. Movement is via linear actuators, which include precision ball screws, with backlash recovery. All 5 axes are interpolated continuously and moved by electronically controlled brushless digital motors, with automatic current and position management.
Optical linear encoders (precision 1 = 0.001 mm) on the X, Y and Z axes and absolute optical encoders on the two rotary axes (precision 0.00012 rad) guarantee durable precision.
Fast-locking disc holder for standard discs (98.5 mm). Standard tool magazine with 20 positions and the possibility to manage duplicates.

The milling center is controlled by a removable, touch-screen tablet PC with an intuitive interface which is very easy to use. It is developed specifically for dental technicians: all of the machine control functions in a single device. Possibility of remote control thanks to a special software (included).

Always Ready For Use
With the 20 positions in its integrated tool holder, you have up to 19 tools always ready to be used; the CAM software will select the correct one for each process on its own, even when you change material. It is also possible to manage copies of some tools (back up).

CONSTRUCTION DETAILS
OPTICAL LINEAR ENCODERS ON THE 3 CARTESIAN AXES
The optical linear encoders continuously read the actual position of each axis with a precision of 1 micron (0,001 mm). The control system checks each one of them up to 1,000 times per second, instantly correcting the position of the single axis.

PLANETARY REDUCTION GEARBOXES
Planetary reduction gearboxes are essential to caary the load across 3 planetary gears instead of just one; using helical teeth means no virtual backlash, which is impossible with any traditional system. Lifelong lubricated.
ABSOLUTE ENCODERS ON THE 2 ROTARY AXES
Rotary encoders have the same function for rotary axes as linear encoders have for linear axes. The control system reads them and instantly corrects the angle of the single axis. The precision is 0.00012 radians.
PRE-LOADED RECIRCULATING BALL SCREWS
The linear axes are moved by pre-loaded, ground recirculating ball screws, controlled directly by brushless motors with position feedback to guarantee accuracy and durability. Lifelong lubricated.
STEINLESS STEEL
As a guarantee of hygiene and durability, all parts in contact with recirculating liquid are made in virtual indestructible stainless steel.
Granite
Granite is a volcanic rock, used since ancient times in different architectural and urban contexts for sculptures, gravestones, sarcophagis, statues, memorial and noble buildings. Since 1800 it has also been used as a base for measuring instruments and – in more recent times – for kitchen tops and elegant flooring, exploiting its characteristics of:
- High dimensional stability – it is a material with no inner tensions (4 billion years seasoning…)
- High thermal stability: its linear thermal expansion coefficient is far lower than those of cast iron or steel
- High resistance to wear
- Harder than tempered steel (6-7 on the Mohs scale)
- Resistance to acids and oxidation
- Non magnetic and electrically insulated
Moreover, granite shows a macro-granular matrix, absorbing the vibrations created by hard-material machining (such as Cobalt- Chrome or Titanium), which could reduce the quality and life of the tool.
Why 5 axes
Modern oral implantology places the implants in optimum position and at the optimum angle for each specific implant. Thus the manufacture of the prosthesis needs a 5-axis machining; better if the axes have a simultaneous movement.
However, 5 axes are useful on traditional jobs to place the prosthesis to be milled in the disc, minimizing its thickness (higher speed, lower consumption of materials and less tool wear). The lower cost of a 4- axis machine does not justify its limits; thus dental Machine stopped manufacturing 4-axis machines some years ago.
